Regulates power supply

Draw the full regulated power supply and explain its each component. 
Unregulated power supply:-
In an regulated power supply the regulation of voltage is not reflected in the output since it don't have voltage regulation. 

 Regulated power supply:-
In this regulated circuit a resistor R is connected in series with the input voltage from an and regulated power supply and zener diode connected in parallel with the load. 

Components of regulated power supply:-
(i) Step down transformer:-
It step down down the voltage from AC mains and maintain required level of voltage. The output of Transformer in input of rectifier circuit. 
(ii) Rectifier :- 
Rectifier is an electronic devices used to convert alternating current coming from Transformer into the corresponding direct current. 

(iii) DC filteration: -
DC filtration filters the rippled direct current into pure ripple  free DC waveform. 

(iv) Regulation :- 
The output voltage or current will fluctuate when there is a  change in input supply or due to change in load current at the output of the regulated power supply.

Differentiate between Centre tapping Transformer and conventional transformer ?  Centre tapped Transformer gives us different range of voltage at secondary side whenever required to operate at different loading condition but normal Transformer gives us some fixed voltage at secondary side irrespective of loading condition. Centre tap Transformer always have tapping on hai higher voltage side because on the HV side current is low compared to LV side. So transition of moving arm on hand to change tap will cause in large change in current.
